DESEADA is sired by one of the very few black Calificado stallions that have been approved by ANCCE in the World. Her sire, HABANERO, was exported to the USA where he is continuing the successful dressage career he began in his native Spain. So far in his short career he has won Gold Medals at ANCCE Ecija 2005, CDNB Equimur 2007 both for 4 year olds, Cerdanya 2006 for 5 year olds, CDNB Equimur 2007, CDNA Cava, A.C. 2007.
DESEADA's grand sire, ERMITANO III from MARIA ESCALERA stud farm is one of the first, and many believe the best, PRE dressage stallions produced to date. Extremely functional, this trait is exceptionally transmitted to his offspring. DESEADA is great grand daughter of ERMITANA IV, Champion of Spain and Best Movement Champion in 1991 and 1994. ERMITANO III has become the first PRE to be awarded the ELITE status in February 2012.
On DESEADA's dam side, she comes from the BLANCA DOMECQ lines through JENSON and the JOSE LUIS ESCALERA lines via LEBRIJANO III. LEBRIJANO was a brother to LEVITON, JECOMIAS and JENSON, three of the premier breeding stallions of modern PRE history. JOSE LUIS ESCALERA, scion of Spain's most ancient breeding program and famous for his focus on functionality, frequently bred to LEBRIJANO. The resulting offspring won numerous awards for best movement and his descendants have a reputation in Spain as exemplary dressage horses. Alfonso Sanchez of Club del Caballo has based his breeding program on the Lebrijano/Escalera lineage. Sanchez says that breeding to the LEBRIJANO line "is a basic and essential ingredient if a skillful and almost safe prescription is desired for obtaining solid horses with excellent aptitudes for dressage”.
DESEADA has been backed and has shown good promise as a potential dressage mare. She will be covered by our black Multi Champion CALIFICADO Advanced dressage stallion, HABANERO XLI, for her first foal due in 2013.
